Conservatories

Fading is a common problem in conservatory furniture. In this conservatory, we used a blue film, and look at the difference!
The conservatory before windows tints were fitted... ...and after. The conservatory is now protected from UV rays and glare.

Mr & Mrs Collins called Shady Days after hearing our advert on Compass FM, to enquire about getting her conservatory tinted.

Having just had a new wooden floor fitted, the couple were concerned that fading may occur, as they have experienced with a settee in their conservatory, shown to the left. This sort of fading is common, due to the excessive exposure to UV rays in sunlight experienced by items in a conservatory.

Shady Days came out to survey and price the conservatory, and within a few days, our expert came out and tinted both the windows and the polycarb roof of the conservatory.

Now, as well as lending a fresh new look to the conservatory, Mr and Mrs Collins newly tinted windows will ensure that furniture fading will become a thing of the past. The conservatory is now better at retaining heat in the winter and in evenings, staying cool in the summer, reducing glare from sunlight, and the film is guaranteed for five years. All this for less than half the price of blinds, and now, the users can lounge whilst looking out over the garden all year round without the temperature being too hot or cold.

Mrs Collins now notes how warm the conservatory is in the evenings. "It used to be like an icebox in there," she said, but now, thanks to window tints, she no longer has to put the conservatory heater on in the evening.

Mr Lawrence of Immingham loves nothing more than to spend time in his conservatory painting. However, in sunny conditions, glare from the sun hitting the glass roof was becoming a real problem for anyone spending time in the conservatory.

Mr Lawrence wanted a solution to his problem which shielded the inside of the conservatory from the sun's glare, whilst still allowing him to see the sky through his glass roof. So he called Shady Days, and was quickly able to book an appointment for our tinter to come out and give advice on which film would be best in this situation, as well as a price.

Our expert suggested installing a 20% silver film to give a natural look to the blue sky, whilst still shielding from the glare. Mr Lawrence agreed, and now, thanks to window tints, he no longer suffers from excessive glare, nor the headaches they caused him. He is now able to sit in peace and paint his artwork from his garden view conservatory, and still look up at the deep blue sky.

As well as shielding from glare, these window tints will also help to retain heat in the winter, whilst rejecting excess heat in the summer months.

Before window tints were applied, looking up would give a wonderful view of the sky. Now, with window tints, visibility of the sky remains the same, with the added benefits of glare reduction, better temperature regulation, and blocking of harmful UV rays.
Here, Steve is applying the window film to the surface of the glass. These are applied to the inside, so wear is not a problem, and nor is maintenance, as films can be cleaned just like glass. The difference is clear! Window films do an excellent job of shielding from strong sunlight, whilst still allowing optimal visibility through the glass.

Before window tints, anyone could look straight into the conservatory. But now, privacy is afforded to all who use it.

Miss Kay of Lincoln was tired of having a conservatory which she never used: stiflingly hot in the summer, and too cold in the winter, all members of the household were reluctant to use what should be a lovely room.

Miss Kay attempted to use the conservatory as an office space, but quickly remembered why she abandoned it in the first place, and problems with heat and glare almost drove her out again. Moving computer and office equipment into the conservatory also meant that she desired more privacy.
After searching for conservatory blinds and being put off by the astronomical prices she was quoted, she called Shady Days.

After we applied a 20% light intake commercial film, Miss Kay's problems were a thing of the past. This film is excellent at rejecting heat in the summer, whilst retaining heat in the winter, making the conservatory overall more pleasant and private.

Additionally, Miss Kay will not have to worry about her furniture fading through sun exposure, and no longer has problems with glare on her computer screen, all thanks to window tints.
Now Miss Kay can get back to using her computer in comfort, which incidentally, is how she found Shady Days.

 Conservatory - 13 May 2010
We have a conservatory that has not been used for 12 years due to being too hot in summer and too cold in winter. One of my bedrooms was being used as a study and the conservatory remained unused. We needed privacy due to all computer and office equipment.Steve has transformed the room and the study has now been moved into the conservatory and I have my bedroom back. Steve was prompt and a clean worker also very pleasant to deal with.I would like to thank him for the incredible difference he has made to the windows and it is now a pleasure to be in the room we never used. I can highly recommend his work for conservatories.

Mr Moffet in Barton on Humber was having real trouble with his
conservatory: glare and extreme heat made sitting in the conservatory
a sore deal when summer came round.

When he called Shady Days, we quickly arranged a consultation, decided on the shade to use, and on a seperate appointment, tinted his windows and polycarbonate roof.

Now, the temperature of the conservatory is no longer scorching in the summer and freezing in the winter. Coupled with the removal of the suns glare and the face that the view of the garden is unimpaired, window tints have made this conservatory a much more pleasant place to lounge.

At Shady Days, we are able to tint a variety of surfaces beyond glass, such as polycarbonate roofing.

Here, you can clearly tell the difference tinting has on the glass: window films act as a barrier to heat, slowing the rate at which the conservatory gains and loses heat through the window, blocking harmful UV rays and reducing glare, all with no effect on visibility.

Mettalux 20% light intake film was used.

Now, with window tints, visibility of the sky remains the same, with the added benefits of glare reduction, better temperature regulation, and blocking of harmful UV rays.

Here, the problem of fading is illustrated well. The portion of carpet which was under a doormat shows the carpets original colour. Privacy is an added bonus of window tinting. Large panes of glass such as in a conservatory provide tacit opportunity for strangers to see into your house. Our reflective window films give protection from outside snoopers.
Our window tinter can tint conservatory roofs of virtually any height. The difference is clear, the suns glare is immediately buffeted, thanks to Shady Days.

Mr Johnson in Cleethorpes decided to clean out his conservatory, having not done so for a few years. On moving some furniture, he discovered that the colour of his carpet had faded. With plans to change the furniture and carpet in the conservatory, he needed a way to stop this fading.

Fading like this is common in unprotected conservatories, and comes as a result of longterm exposure to the suns UV rays. Discovering this, Mr Johnson found Shady Days. After a consultation, we were able to advise on which shades of film to use, and quickly returned to tint his conservatory windows.

Now, any furniture in the conservatory is protected from fading, bright sunlight and glare is reduced, and the conservatory will maintain a more comfortable ambient temperature all year round, and all with no impact to visibility. To top it off, Mr Johnson no longer needs to rely on his blinds, so dusting them is one less job around the house.
