Conservatory Window Film

Conservatories are a popular addition to the home. They provide a cost affective way of extending your property. They are supposed to be a light, airy and comfortable space with a clear view of the outside world which you can use all year round. In reality they are cold in the winter and hot in the summer with so much glare making watching TV or reading impossible without the help of sunglasses and not to mention the fading of your furnishings.

Most people realize the issues once they have built their conservatory and immediately install blinds. Blinds are excellent at providing total privacy night and day and complement window films very well but they do little to reject solar energy. Roof blinds are very expensive and do require maintaining and collect insects unlike our films. window films can be cleaned like ordinary windows* and are ideal for difficult shaped roofs where it would be impossible to install a functioning blind.

Have you noticed amount of times you see conservatories on a gorgeous summer’s day and all the blinds are closed and they are still too hot to use. If you walk into a conservatory with our window and roof films installed it is a totally different environment, you have a clear view of the outside world but without the glare, the temperature inside is at a comfortable level for you to make use of the space, and you and your furnishings are being shielded from the suns harmful UV rays. And all of this for half the price of blinds and with a comprehensive manufacturers warranty of up to 5 years.

We have films which are suitable for glass and polycarbonate roofs which can reject up to 78% solar energy which can make a significant difference. There are lots of different shades and colours available to give you the protection and look that you require.

Window films can also reduce your carbon foot print and your energy costs by reducing the frequency that air conditioning and fans need to be used. In the winter months they reflect the heat back into the room so it will be cheaper to heat.

Mr. Fowler of Waltham (nr Grimsby) “We are finding the temperature in the days have reduced by about 10 degrees C and when things cool down at night it is retaining the heat for longer” he added “We haven’t been able to use the conservatory in the summer heat and on the cold winter days until now, and I now enjoy watching the Formula 1 Grand Prix on the TV for the first time in my conservatory”.

METALUX For Polycarbonate Roofed Conservatories

Solar heat entering through the roof can be substantial and difficult to control if the roof surface is made of polycarbonate.
The external installation of a traditional film, without any guarantees, is done regularly but it is not always the best solution because a traditional film suffers from the polycarbonate’s release of condensation which in turn implies the formation of blisters and tunnels between the film and the supporting surface.
Polycarbonate roofs are also an area where blinds are often offered but turn out to be expensive, difficult to install and very often inefficient!

The METALUX film is a product made of transparent metalized vinyl which includes a pressure sensitive adhesive specially conceived to live with polycarbonate surfaces since it dilates when the polycarbonate releases condensation – (degassing phenomenon)

The METALUX film is the ideal solution for internal applications on all types of polycarbonates even those manufactured recently. METALUX film has proven to be a highly stable product against UV radiation and benefits from a 5 year guarantee against cracking, yellowing and demetallisation

In what concerns performance of the METALUX film you will rapidly notice its advantages as soon as it is installed under the sun!

  • Glare Reduction – 80%
  • Infrared Heat Rejection – 72%
  • U V Transmission – 1%
  • With 20% of visible light transmission, the METALUX film will reduce light intake only slightly on a polycarbonate roof surface that is already quite bright
  • Let us not forget that the METALUX film is metalized as its name indicates and it thus reduces heat loss in the winter on internal installations
  • No particular maintenance is required. The METALUX film is very resistant to abrasion
